All I Want For Christmas Is.....

Many things actually, thanks for asking.

Just wishing everyone an awesome Christmas Eve! I know most of you aren't like me and open your presents on Christmas Day, however I will be indulging in my gifts come later this evening :D. I'll write another post later about all those awesome gifts.

P.S.- I received an early Christmas present in the form of my acceptance letter to the University of South Carolina! wooo!

Best Day?

First of all, I want to let everyone know I was accepted to NC State on Monday! I know, it's just my back-up but its so sweet to actually be accepted somewhere. More college news below....

This is basically just a quick post to let everyone know today was probably one of the BEST DAYS!
Lets recap:
  • I finished my last test before Christmas Break (which for me begins after ONE MORE school day tomorrow!)
  • I had my last swim practice, which went super well for me being sort of sick
  • The Student Council Christmas Candy Cane Sales went so well and everyone was super excited (especially me who got 7 candy canes!)
  • Finally...I got accepted to Elon University (one of my top choices!) AND received a HUGE 4-year scholarship (by huge, I mean $16,000!)

So yea, this day was pretty awesome to say the least. I'll be posting more as I find out from more universities and as I return back to the beloved homeland in 2 DAYS!!!!

C'MON GUYS GET A MOVE ON!!!!!!

In case you were wondering, I find out from:
  • Georgia, South Carolina, and NC State on the 15th
  • Elon on the 18th
  • UNC on the 15th of January
  • and my two rolling schools, Texas and Tennessee, which should have ALREADY mailed their decisions to me, are TBD

I know I said I wouldn't be before, but, I'm getting pretty anxious. Hopefully I dont end up like this guy...

We're Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime

It's been about a week into December and I can't say how exciting (and busy) its been. My absolute favorite month (i mean Christmas AND my birthday...what could be better) has arrived and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

So whats happened in the past week you ask...
  • Our family along with our neighbors went on a weekend trip to Berlin last weekend to take in the sights and go see the varying Christmas markets. We had loads of fun as Berli was another place to mark off our list AND all the markets, lights, and snow really got us into the Christmas spirit. Pictures posted soon!
  • I've been enjoying leftover turkey sandwiches for breakfast, lunch, and dinner pretty much everyday this week. I swear nothing beats leftover Thanksgiving food
  • We put up our Christmas tree Monday, decorating it with a collection of my mom's (finest?) nativity ornaments. However, It wasn't complete without us having some Christmas music and hot chocolate as well!
  • Speaking of Christmas music, I think I've listened to like 21387472932 Christmas songs since Monday
  • Our first swim meet occurred on Friday. I was extremely nervous, however bettered my time by 4 seconds in my first race! In my second race, however, I fell off the starting block and was disqualified :( but oh well, I think I still did alright.

So yea, the first week of December has been pretty eventful, and it will only get better :)
P.S.- I find out from a few of my colleges in like a week! and I go back to the states in 12 DAYS!!!!!!

Thanksgiving!

The best holiday of the year has arrived. Today is Thanksgiving. I know, you all probably think the food has made this my favorite holiday. However, while that is a MAJOR part of my love for the last thursday of November, there are many other factors.

The basic jist is that Thanksgiving represents a time where we can all gather with family and friends to share joy in each other's company, eat loads of food, and be thankful for the amazing gifts God has given us.

This year, as we had 30 something people over for dinner, even those who aren't American, it's obvious that this holiday presents such a happy time, and allows those "newbies" to share one of the very important parts of our American culture. Basically, I'm so thankful for what I have, and the people that make each and every day amazing.

On that note...I leave you with a poem:
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Happy Turkey Day Everyone!

It's Swimming Season!

Yes, the swim season has begun at our school. If any of you are familiar with my previous experiences regarding swimming, you would know I tried out last year, was horrible, and ended up being cut.

Despite that, I kept working, and had the coach train me one-on-one, helping me improve my stamina, technique, and speed. I was determined to get better and make the team this year.

It came down to tryouts on Wednesday, and I was extremely nervous, wondering how much better I had gotten. I got in the pool, and felt AMAZING! I've never swam so great or had so much fun doing it in my life!! Upon getting out of the pool, my friend said "you look so much better than last year and you seem like you're having so much fun."

At yesterday's practice I found out I'm definitely on the 08-09 ACS Hillingdon Swim Team! This just goes to show that hard work, determiniation, practice, and perseverance really DO pay off in the end, and I can see this first-hand.

Michael Phelps....you got some competition!

Remember Remember, the (9th?) of November

I was determined to post all throughout this past week on events that have occurred. There were about 11980808480321 huge things that have happened, that could probably each have its own post, however I'll quickly summarize

  1. ITS NOVEMBER! Meaning yay for swimming (well not exactly yay...), Thanksgiving, American Football, and getting into the "Festive Season"
  2. School has started back....yuck, though I have not had much work :D
  3. I've finished all but one of my college applications, can I get a woop woop
  4. I have heard and seen more fireworks outside my house in the past week then I think I had in my entire life (Thank you Guy Fawkes, the British Soldiers, and whoever decided to come up with a Hindu New Year)
  5. I went to a concert yesterday with like 20 Christian bands including Tim Hughes, Delirious, and Switchfoot which was pretty incredible
  6. Oh and in case you live in a cave away from any source of media (except to check my blog of course):

....History was made.

I think this sums up that November has already been pretty eventful, and we're only a week in. It could also mean I need to post more, but thats a different story.

A Phanatic Series

Last night marked the conclusion of the best few weeks of the year: October Baseball. The Fall Classic ended with the Philadelphia Phillies beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4 games to 1. While I personally LOATH the Phillies, and because my grandparents live in Tampa, I was personally biased towards the Rays, and I know that they are pretty bummed down there in Florida. Nonetheless, the Phillies were a great team and deserved the title.

While it sucks that baseball season is finally over and not returning until April, the World Series is such a fun and exciting time. Yes, it can get kinda stressful as I attempt to watch each and every playoff game from start to finish, yet I love every minute of it. I guess I can revert back to my patriotic roots in thinking that my reasons for loving it is that it brings that small, but abundant inkling of home (Thank you NASN). I think that is why we call it "America's Pastime".

Fall Break!

Its October Break!!!!

Yes.....time to relax with no school for the entire week!!!

(minus the college apps, homework, and wisdom teeth removal surgery I will have to go through before week's end)

The Brown's

I do realize this post is coming about a week and a half too late but oh well...

LAST WEEKEND (during our nice 5-day weekend) our old YoungLife leader Liz got married to her fiance Phil. For those of you have not had the opportunity to read about Phil and Liz, click hereOur entire family attended the ceremony, which was held at an old English church. Liz was about 20 minutes late (it wouldn't be LIZ's wedding if she wasn't late) and the ceremony was highlighted by their hilarious yet insightful minister, lots of excited British people, and even poppers. The ceremony was a bit different than our normal American ceremonies. First of all, the whole vows, rings, and kissing the bride is done at the beginning, followed by all of the music and readings, and then they leave for about 10 minutes to sign the register. Its all quite different.
Following the ceremony, we attended the reception at a nearby school hall. It was a traditional English Tea (at least an American's interpretation of an English Tea) with scones, tea with milk, sweets (American Translation: Desserts), and biscuits (American Translation: Cookies). At the same time we were able to have the whole YoungLife group at our table which was a lot of fun.
It was so neat attending a pseudo-British wedding and a pseudo-English tea. My mom was saying at the ceremony, "I can really feel the presence of God here" and you totally could. I'm so happy for Liz and Phil because I've never seen a couple with such a strong love for God and each other. I can't wait to see what He has in store for them. Congrats Phil and Lizzie!

College Apps!!!

I love this cartoon, I mean it mixes my favorite thing (american football) and the dreadful thing that is taking over my life (college applications)

As it gets closer and closer to deadline (the early-action deadline that is), I've used this 5-day weekend (yes we have been having a 5-day weekend for teacher conferences/workdays) to do the majority of my applications; or at least all the ones due by November 1st.

This means I have conquered Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina State, and Texas! wooooo thats more than half!! Now all I have left is Elon, South Carolina, and Syracuse......yay??

As a few of my friends have stated, I am an "eager beaver". But why shouldn't I be? I mean isn't it better to get the applications out of the way as soon as possible AND know many months sooner? I'm just thinking logical.

While dealing with apps AND regular hw is such a hassle, it is awesome moving along in a process that will ultimately shape who I am in the real world...and a little scary...

Oktoberfest

This past weekend, my friend Dylan and I (along with our dads) took a trip to Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest. (For those of you who live in caves away from any source of information, Oktoberfest is a HUGE festival in Southern Germany complete with rides, tents, guys and gals dressed in traditional garb, and LOADS OF BEER).We left friday, missing school :P, and stayed till Sunday morning. Friday was complete with drinking beer in the Spaten tent, seeing my friend Tino and meeting some of his friends from Munich who got us into a private tent, and eating HUGE pretzels and bratwurst.
Saturday, after a tour of Central Munich, we met up with my old au pair Tina and her boyfriend, Tom, as well as two of their friends. Since the Wiesn (thats the area where the festival is located) was so overcrowded with millions of people doing the same thing we were, we went to a nearby tent OUTSIDE the festival and hung out. We stayed till about 11 that night before returning home and preparing to leave the next morning.

While yes there was TONS of beer, it was great seeing old friends and just having fun. I'm so grateful to be able to fly to Germany for the weekend just to go to Oktoberfest. This was definitely a weekend never to be forgotten and although I may never be able to return to Munich during these fun-filled festivaled (ha alliteration) weeks, I will be able to say that I went to Oktoberfest and had an AWESOME time.

I Believe the Appropriate Name for your Condition is Senioritis...?

Finally Seniors. It's something every 12th grader goes through, and I happen to be getting the illness right at the beginning. Its called "senioritis"

Through the past couple of weeks I've been able to embrace being a senior in all its glory. I'm taking 5 AP's (crazy I know) and have already received LOADS of work, but I'll manage.

The best perk of being a senior is the senior lounge. Now thanks to the lovely Class of '08, we have to fundraise, furnish, and paint the senior lounge ourselves. It all has something to do with taking ownership or whatever. Anyways I've found myself as one of the head honchos of this little project, coming up with a Bake Sale and American Candy Sale to raise the money, going to IKEA to pick out the furniture, and designing how it will be painted.

Another great thing is senior trip. This will be taken before graduation, and I happen to be, you guessed it, a co-coordinator of this event as well. We've done the preliminary votes, but the researching, planning, and pricing all has to be done by me....yay (sarcastic laugh).

I've also signed up to do MUN and was chosen as a delaget to attend conference in The Hague in January. I've also run for Student Council President with the elections tomorrow (update promise!). In all of this I've completely embraced being a senior.

Not to mention YoungLife, Wyldlife, and having a SOCIAL Life! Man, this school never saw ME coming! Class of '09...here we go

Woah....long time no post

Man its been a long time. Quite a lot has happened since June 22nd. Lets do the quick overview shall we.....

First, My family and I went on a 12-day Mediterannean Cruise on the Brilliance of the Seas, leaving from Barcelona and stopping in Villefranche, Pisa, Rome, Mykonos, Ephesus, Santorini, Athens, and Naples.

After our awe-inspiring cruise, Gina and I went back to the states for a few weeks. We saw friends and family, having tons of fun. I went to a few Braves games, and had a great time with all my friends.

The second week of our stay, Gina's boyfriend David came and stayed with us for a week. We both enjoyed being with him and showing him the sights of ATL. We went to Six Flags, Coca-Cola World, all the malls, a Braves Game, and just the normal hanging out stuff. We also had a fun party where we transformed our basement into a coffee shop.

Following these fun Atlanta times, Gina and David headed to the beach, while My Dad and I went on our week-long college tour. We first stopped in NYC to see the Yankees before the stadium closes this October. We saw two games, both which the won. We then headed up to Syracuse University, and were able to see BIG P, a friend from the area, who showed us around the school.

After 'Cuse, we headed down to Raleigh. We saw my cousins, Matt and Daniel, and saw NC State University and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Next stop was Knoxville, where we saw the University of Tennessee, and then off to Austin to see the University of Texas, with a small stopover in San Antonio to see my grandparents. The week was great and I got a sense of what college life really will be.
My dad and I then flew back to England so I could attend Wyldlife Camp as a student leader. I had an awesome time canoeing, abseiling, and sliding down the huge slip n slide. I met some awesome people from England and Belgium and loved being a leader and running small talks, etc.
Finally, it was time to return to school and the last few weeks have been awesome. Being a senior it truly amazing. I'm taking 5 AP's, which is quite a workload, but I'll be able to persevere. Its already been really fun helping to fix up the senior lounge, planning the senior trip, and pretty much ruling the school, I'm sure you'll be hearing more about it (with pictures!) soon.
Anyways I promise to blog more often so check back for more on this incredible journey :)

Summatime!

If you're wondering where I've been or what I've been up to the past week, the answer is finishing the last week of school. While some might think this is a week of mainly good-byes and fun school activities, you are severly mistaken. Over the course of the past week I have been taking my dreaded: FINALS!

With 2 exams Monday (Chemistry and Spanish), an exam Wednesday (Music) and an exam Thursday (Math) I've been pretty busy studying. All the while entertaining my grandparents who have returned from Italy and will be here with us until Tuesday.

At the same time as I spent countless hours studying and preparing, I was getting ready for an intense weekend of parties and fun to start the summer. However this proved to be a daunting task as my parents proved very reluctant to permit me to go to these "parties".

Noon on Thursday rolled around and I had just finished owning my Math exam. I took a deep breath and realized that the school year is finally over, and I could enjoy Summer 2008! That afternoon Dylan came over and we went to the graduation ceremony, which actually reminded me of the graduation ceremonies in the states, if you add a little diversity and some English people. We gave our congratulations to our friends, and then headed off to the after graduation party.

Friday I took my grandparents into London. Our "Tour of Westminster" gave all the highlights such as:
  • Buckingham Palace
  • Westminster Abbey
  • Big Ben and Parliament
  • Trafalgar Square
  • Covent Garden
  • Leicester Square
  • Picadilly Circus
  • Regents Street
  • Oxford Street and Selfridges
  • Hyde Park and Marble Arch
  • and Park Lane

We walked everywhere in about a full circle around Westminster (we thought it was about a 3-6 mile walk in total, and by the end our feet were killing us! However the fully enjoyed the tour and felt like they had seen all the great sights of London.

After I got home, I went to a going away party for my friends Steph, Erin, and Greg. That night, My buddies (Greg, Allen, Dylan) and I decided to camp out in my backyard. We later regretted this decision the next morning, when we awoke to pouring rain and a leaking tent. However, we won't ever forget our last night camp-out.

Saturday I went over to my friend Steph's house for some breakfast, little did we know the breakfast meant we had to help them move trampolines and work out equipment. That evening, I went to a summer party where there was a dance floor, jaccuzi's, dancers, the works. It was pretty fun and a great way to start the summer, as well as saying goodbye to those who are moving.

Now, I'm ready for summer to start meaning late nights, long sleeps, and tons of fun :)

SUMMER '08!!!!

Watkins/Brown's

Last wednesday, our parents and grandparents went off to Italy for an enjoyable long weekend. While they were gone, our old YoungLife leader, Liz, stayed with us. It was pretty fun I must say. While she visits, I turn into the "Resident Iron Chef", cooking meals and showing off my amazing skills :PShe arrived and I made a corn, rice, and tomato casserole with cornbread that was oh so good. Her fiance Phil came over for dinner (He came over everyday as a matter of fact) and it was fun. Afterwards we watched the Euros, as Phil was really into it.

Thursday, I made a herbed chicken mozzerella salad with a side of sun-dried tomato pesto pasta. It was incredible, and competely my own creation! Everyone enjoyed it and I even had some left over for lunch the next day. Afterwards we watched a movie (as we proceded to do every night).

Friday I didnt have an exam so I spent the day doing chores and just chilling out with Liz. That night was sports awards so I wasnt able to cook :( but we did watch more movies and just chilled.
Saturday I went into London, however came back for some awesome Mexican food and another movie. Phil, of course, was over and I pretty much enjoyed there company.

Sunday was so sweet. Phil came over, once again, to make a traditional English Sunday Roast (See Pictures Below!). We spent the whole afternoon preparing and cooking the peas, carrots, roast, broccoli, stuffing, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, and gravy. We sat down and enjoyed our awesome dinner! It was so good and now I know how to make a roast! its a 2 for 1 deal!!!
However the highlight had to be before dinner, when Phil decided to bring his clippers over and shave my head. I'd never had anyone do it other than like a barber before, so this was quite an interesting experience. We did it in my bathroom, and boy do I have a lot of hair! Ha it went everywhere and was quite hard to clean up, but so worth it. A few pictures of the process below!

Basically, I loved having Liz here! (and Phil too!) and I can't wait till the next time my parents go away for gourmet cooking, sweet movies, and other antics we get up to....you know fooseball, cutting people's hair?

Classes=FINISHED!

Today was the official last day of classes at our school! (Finally!)

All my jealousy towards those of you who've been done with school has decreased a little bit since I myself am now done. However, I still have a week of exams left before I am actually "free".

Today we had normal classes in the morning, and in the afternoon enjoyed a delicious bbq followed by an assembly for those people who are leaving (complete with picture slideshow which was extremely sad) and then yearbook distribution.

It was a pretty fun afternoon and everyone enjoyed it I think. However its not time to study for exams!! 4 to go before.....SUMMER 2008!

SAT....Part 2

Yesterday morning I took the dreaded SAT....again.

As some of you consistent readers know, I took the SAT in early May (I posted quite a bit about how nervous and tense I was while studying, followed by another post saying how excited I was that it was over with). A few weeks ago, I received my scores (1890! also see previous post) and was in general happy with what I got.

Since I wasn't worried and generally pleased with my score, I didn't really go all out studying for this SAT. This means I didnt skip school and didn't spend the whole day hovering over practice tests and SAT prep books. Nope, this time I took a casual approach: went to school like a normal day, came home and relaxed, went out to dinner, did a few small problems, and went to bed early.

This picture represents everyone's feelings of the college board

I actually felt really good. I woke up the next morning, ate a nice breakfast, and arrived at the school in due time to sign in and get ready to take the test. Everything was going smoothly as if it was picture perfect.

After filling out all the necessary forms, the test began with an essay, which I wrote one of the best I have ever done (5 paragraphs in a 25 minute time period!). I was so excited, that in the next section (section 2), I placed all my answers in the wrong answer sheet (I put them in the section 3 bubbles). After I realized my error, I approached the proctor, who gave me a whole new answer sheet form, which I had to fill out all my information AGAIN, and told me to finish the rest of the test on this form. She then had to fill out an "irregularity report" saying I made a fault and that my answers are on two sheets and all the details, etc.

Hopefully this won't happen to me!

This sort of stressed me out during the rest of the test, however I still think I did ok and hopefully I can push that score into the 1900's! Now, I'm all finished with testing until October. This was just another link thats bringing me closer to summer!

Passed!

Yesterday I.....

PASSED MY DRIVING THEORY TEST!
I took the test at a nearby center. In England the test is composed of 50 multiple choice questions, 43 of which you need to get right, and a 25 minute Hazard Perception Section. In this section you are presented a series of clips and every time you see a potential hazard you click the mouse.
In the multiple choice section I got a 50/50 (Yea I pretty muched owned it and even beat the scores of BOTH my parents). In the Hazard Perception I got a 59/75 which isnt bad, but its enough to pass :)

Now I'm just celebrating and enjoying not have to go through practice tests/cd-roms/books that I had been studying the past week. I'm also ready to start lessons and get ready for my practical! Just one step closer to getting my full British license :)

JUNE!

June Is Here!!!

I'm pretty much psyched cause it means the start (in England at least) of
  1. Warm Weather
  2. Late Nights (It doesn't get dark in June here until around 10-10:30)
  3. and just SUMMER!

Only 3 more weeks left of school (2 if you don't count exams) and then its actually summer. But for now I'm just gonna enjoy the three elements of this month.

Its Been Awhile

Woah its been quite a while since I last blogged and since then, lots has happened

I've hung out with friends every weekend which has been pretty chill. I also finished up the baseball season, unfortunatley not with a win, but o well. I was voted captain at the end of our tournament which made me feel pretty good.

Younglife also ended, with the seniors running thier last club, which was a blast, and the leaders had to eat a sundae mixed with such goodies as curry, pickles, peas, marmite, and salad cream (yumm!)

My grandparents (my mom's dad and step-mom) arrived from Tampa this past saturday and spent the weekend with us. They are now in Paris and then off to Hungary until the 9th of June, when they come back to London for two weeks to visit with us.

School has been completely boring! Since my AP classes are done, I've basically felt like summer should begin and am pretty much ignoring all my regular honors classes. I mean I still am doing work and am not completely lazy, but chemistry is not my subject, I'm so good at math and spanish I can do the work in my sleep, and music is just a simple elective. On top of that, my AP's are study halls on top of study halls. Today I had 4 straight periods (3 hours) of study hall (My mom asked me why I was going to school as I left ha).

So now I'm just chillin waitin for those 3 weeks to be DONE and summer break to finally start. Those of you in Amurrrica reading this and finished with school, I envy you SO MUCH. But only a few more weeks left, plus I had off on Monday, and I'm off the next two fridays (this one to watch a baseball game and next friday to study for the SAT)

Speaking of SAT, I got my scores back today and got an 1890 total score! I was so excited cause I got a 630 on math, which is usually my worst subject. All of my scores were in the 600's which was enough to get into any of the colleges on my list. AND I get to take it again in two weeks :)

So this has basically been whats happening with me. I'll make sure to update more often haha, since my class load and stress has gone way down.

Friday, 16 May 2008

3/3.....but why don't I feel better?

I'm so excited because..................

I'VE FINISHED ALL MY AP EXAMS!!!!!

so great to finally be done! I had my last one, AP English Language (see last post), on Wednesday and it went super well! I wrote some great essays (for those of you who DONT know, AP English Language teaches you to write a 5 paragraph essay in 40 minutes, and for the exam 3 essays in 2 hours...yes...thats right...three 5 paragraph essays in 2 hours :S:S:S) and I also think I did really well on the multiple choice section. LETS HOPE FOR A 5!!!

But now, I'm just sittin at home on a Friday night, which isn't so horrible, but I keep thinking that I've finished my exams and everything seems to be going so well. I have the best of friends, I just gave an amazing talk at Wyldlife and feel like my faith is stronger than ever, its becoming summer, and everything good is happening all over the place, yet I still feel like somethings not there.

I don't know what it is, but for some reason, the more I focus on the good things about my life, the more all the things I dont like and problems I have keep popping into my mind. And i'm just so confused on the fact that if I'm completely and utterly happy, which I think I am, then why do I constantly feel negative and unable to take the best out of situations, but instaed find the worst??

Its just like such a paradox, cause the more good things that fall into place and happen, the more frequent bad emotions and things occur. But why??

Tuesday, 13 May 2008

Study Leave.....Part 2

My AP English Language Exam is tomorrow................

This picture COMPLETELY defines what I need to do right about now. So without further adieu, back to practice test and praying to God for at least a 3!!!!

Uplifting!

There is something about me that many know, but many who also don't understand. That's my relationship with Jesus Christ.

Over the course of the past three days, I've basically spent my weekend doing stuff with YoungLife. We had a social on friday night for us who helped at an auction in which we raised 45 thousand pounds so kids can hear the amazing message of Christ.

Then yesterday, we took about 20 middle schoolers to this huge theme park in which they got to enjoy rides and then go to a Christian Rock concert with thousands of other youth kids from all over the UK. This was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever encountered (I got to see Sanctus Real!), as I saw thousands and thousands of people (teens, children, adults...the works), worshiping and declaring Jesus as their saviour, one of the most awe-inspiring moments of my life.

And today was just another normal Sunday, going to YoungLife where I can appreciate that I am able to have a great time and at the same time hear the wonderful message. Afterwards, me and a friend talked for a few hours just about God, life, and the bible, talking about our faith and how much we love God.

Basically, my faith is the MOST important part of my life. I attribute everything to God, he is the alpha, omega, beginning, and end. My father and redeemer. I love him more than anything else in this World, and I am happy to say that I live my life for him.

When I first moved, I was so mad at God for the situation and place he put me in. But now, through YoungLife, being a Wyldlife leader, having the most incredible friends, and just the amazing happiness that encompasses me 24/7, I know that God put me here for a reason, all a part of his amazing and glorious plan. And I know that he is the source of all my happiness and enjoyment.

As the quote says:
Happy moments,praise God.
Difficult moments,seek God.
Quite moments,worship God.
Painful moments,trust God.
Every moment,Thank God.

In John 10:10 it says "For I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
He died for me, I live for him.

2 down....1 to go

YESSSSSSS!!!

This was the exclamation used when my AP Comparative Government and Politics exam was finished! Its been quite a long weekend (and by long I mean actual long weekend as we didnt have school on Monday, cept for me for my exam), complete with studying, taking exams, and amazing weather.

First, I took the SAT on Saturday. I was really nervous the night before because well 1) its the SAT an 2) I had to go stand-by and wasn't completely sure if I'd be able to take it. However, everything worked out well and I was able to take the exam. It was pretty long and hard to keep focused on ALL 10 sections, but I think I did ok.

As soon as the SAT finished, It was back to the books to prepare for my AP Exam. When Monday rolled around, I was really nervous and it turned out I had a reason to be. My exam was pretty tough, but I was able to focus and take what I had learned and applied it as best I could. (Hopefully resulting in a 4 or 5!!)

Anyways I'd thought I'd post a little bout the fact I'm so glad this burden is off my shoulders and I can relax a bit...that is till next week when I have my AP English exam :S

Study Study Study!

Wow long time no post....

Some of you periodic or even occasional readers of my blog have realized that I haven't posted in quite a while. This is sad but true :(. However, I do have a legitimate excuse for my inability to blog in that I've been extremely busy studying for my upcoming AP Exams and the dreaded SAT.

Some of you might know that I enrolled in an SAT Preparation Course at the school, which basically meets once a month on Saturdays from 8-12 and offers advice, tips, and practice to prepare one for taking the SAT. This "once a month" rule only applies, however, to the months leading up to April.

Yes, I've had to wake up EVERY Saturday morning to be at school at 8AM in order to take an SAT prep class. Talk about major sleep deprivation. So in between SAT prep classes, sleeping (which I don't get much of), studying for my driving test coming up later this month, major amounts of homework, preparing for AP Exams, and applying for a job at Subway, I've been rather busy.

Still, I decided to take time out of my busy schedule and post a bit about some of these "fun" things I've been up to/are upcoming. First, I take the SAT this Saturday, May 3! :S. While this means the end of SAT Prep Classes (Hallelujah!), It marks the beginning of tests, applications, and college prep, something that's so overwhelming I don't even want to think about.

And these haven't been the easiest days leading up to the test...See our school has a program in which the first SAT is paid for by the school and they register you and take care of everything. I gave them my name and thought everything was fine, until Thursday when I found out my name wasn't on the school's list nor the College Board's (people who give out the SAT). This greatly infuriated me, and now I have to go as a stand-by to hope that someone doesn't show up......fun stuff.
Apart from the SAT, I have my first AP Exam (AP Comparative Government and Politics) on Monday. In England, Monday is a Bank Holiday (No school!!), however since this is an AMERICAN exam, I am forced to come in. I did make this fair to myself, as I took today (Friday) off to study.

At the same time, I'm preparing for my drivers theory test on May 22nd, waiting to hear back from Subway on the job offer, and playing so much baseball that its not even funny (we won our first game yesterday 13-12!). So for now, I bid you adieu as I go back to countless hours of revision and practice tests, hopefully all paying off come tomorrow and Monday. Wish me luck!!

Gina's Birthday

Sunday, April 6th, was Gina's birthday. For this special occasion we went for a nice breakfast at a cafe, chilled around the house, had some yummy cake, watched her open her presents, and went to Nandos for a YoungLife dinner. While it doesn't sound A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, I love how we've improvised on birthdays and festivities while living here. Before, it would be this huge bash with all our family, but now its just about celebrating happy moments with the people we are close too, our immediate family and friends.Birthdays are such fun times, and even when it's not my own, I still enjoy celebrating others birthday and having the opportunity to enjoy their happiness with them.
Happy Birthday Gina :)
