Oktoberfest
This past weekend, my friend Dylan and I (along with our dads) took a trip to Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest. (For those of you who live in caves away from any source of information, Oktoberfest is a HUGE festival in Southern Germany complete with rides, tents, guys and gals dressed in traditional garb, and LOADS OF BEER).
We left friday, missing school :P, and stayed till Sunday morning. Friday was complete with drinking beer in the Spaten tent, seeing my friend Tino and meeting some of his friends from Munich who got us into a private tent, and eating HUGE pretzels and bratwurst.
Saturday, after a tour of Central Munich, we met up with my old au pair Tina and her boyfriend, Tom, as well as two of their friends. Since the Wiesn (thats the area where the festival is located) was so overcrowded with millions of people doing the same thing we were, we went to a nearby tent OUTSIDE the festival and hung out. We stayed till about 11 that night before returning home and preparing to leave the next morning.
While yes there was TONS of beer, it was great seeing old friends and just having fun. I'm so grateful to be able to fly to Germany for the weekend just to go to Oktoberfest. This was definitely a weekend never to be forgotten and although I may never be able to return to Munich during these fun-filled festivaled (ha alliteration) weeks, I will be able to say that I went to Oktoberfest and had an AWESOME time.
