Thanksgiving!

The best holiday of the year has arrived. Today is Thanksgiving. I know, you all probably think the food has made this my favorite holiday. However, while that is a MAJOR part of my love for the last thursday of November, there are many other factors.

The basic jist is that Thanksgiving represents a time where we can all gather with family and friends to share joy in each other's company, eat loads of food, and be thankful for the amazing gifts God has given us.

This year, as we had 30 something people over for dinner, even those who aren't American, it's obvious that this holiday presents such a happy time, and allows those "newbies" to share one of the very important parts of our American culture. Basically, I'm so thankful for what I have, and the people that make each and every day amazing.

On that note...I leave you with a poem:
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Happy Turkey Day Everyone!

It's Swimming Season!

Yes, the swim season has begun at our school. If any of you are familiar with my previous experiences regarding swimming, you would know I tried out last year, was horrible, and ended up being cut.

Despite that, I kept working, and had the coach train me one-on-one, helping me improve my stamina, technique, and speed. I was determined to get better and make the team this year.

It came down to tryouts on Wednesday, and I was extremely nervous, wondering how much better I had gotten. I got in the pool, and felt AMAZING! I've never swam so great or had so much fun doing it in my life!! Upon getting out of the pool, my friend said "you look so much better than last year and you seem like you're having so much fun."

At yesterday's practice I found out I'm definitely on the 08-09 ACS Hillingdon Swim Team! This just goes to show that hard work, determiniation, practice, and perseverance really DO pay off in the end, and I can see this first-hand.

Michael Phelps....you got some competition!

Remember Remember, the (9th?) of November

I was determined to post all throughout this past week on events that have occurred. There were about 11980808480321 huge things that have happened, that could probably each have its own post, however I'll quickly summarize

  1. ITS NOVEMBER! Meaning yay for swimming (well not exactly yay...), Thanksgiving, American Football, and getting into the "Festive Season"
  2. School has started back....yuck, though I have not had much work :D
  3. I've finished all but one of my college applications, can I get a woop woop
  4. I have heard and seen more fireworks outside my house in the past week then I think I had in my entire life (Thank you Guy Fawkes, the British Soldiers, and whoever decided to come up with a Hindu New Year)
  5. I went to a concert yesterday with like 20 Christian bands including Tim Hughes, Delirious, and Switchfoot which was pretty incredible
  6. Oh and in case you live in a cave away from any source of media (except to check my blog of course):

....History was made.

I think this sums up that November has already been pretty eventful, and we're only a week in. It could also mean I need to post more, but thats a different story.
